Texas Chainsaw Massacre, produced by Michael Bay and starring Jessica Biel, is now shooting in the Texas sun and Austin Studios. The new take on the cult fav films through mid-September and is slated for release by New Line Cinema on Halloween 2003. What's neat about this "revisualization" (puh-leeze don't call it a re-make) is that Daniel Pearl, who lensed the 1974 original, is again director of photography. Since 1985, he's worked on more than 200 rock videos, including The Cars' "Drive," Michael Jackson's "Billy Jean" and Tina Turner's "We Don't Need Another Hero." Intrepid Daniel was roller-skating cameraman on Roller Boogie (1979) and Skatetown, U.S.A. (1979) and DP'd the backstage/performance flick Madonna: Truth or Dare (1991), known in the U.K. as In Bed with Madonna. Whether you're a Material Girl fan or not, critic Leonard Maltin says, it's "an important film."
